We are here to help working artists in Scotland fulfil their potential, and realise their visions. The trust aims to support work which:
- is created by artists in Scotland
- adds to the growing reputation of Scotland's arts community
- helps individuals of talent to develop their skills and ideas.
We support work in any artform, and the application process is simple.
Where does the money come from?
We are an independent trust established to enable those who enjoy the richness of Scotland's arts and who value the contribution that the arts, artists and creativity play in our national life, to contribute to their continued development.
The trust offers an opportunity for those who derive pleasure from the arts to recognise, in a tangible way, the enormous success of Scottish artists and arts organisations and provide for their future. We also value the profound impact that the arts can have on the lives of individuals and the wider community.
The trust draws on Creative Scotland for assistance in administration to ensure running costs are kept to a minimum. It makes use of the expertise which already exists within the Scottish Arts Council, but final decisions on what is funded rests with the trustees. The funds are used to support a range of projects in any artform.
We've taken a fresh look at our work and see the need and opportunity to refresh our approach in a changing world. In addition to applications for general funding, usually two per year, we have an ambition for our artists to be able to work in an international context. One of our interests is to offer annual international travel bursaries, which will have a separate application process.
